The sky outside was dark and the stars were probably shinning outside, she would have loved to go outside and wander around. However, that wasn't possible. Going outside was impossible, the only way she could have gone outside was to walk around the indoor garden on the fourth floor. That took too much time. The pink haired girl was bored, and needed something to do. Something! Anything!
The pink haired girl decided to spend her time in the kitchen, at least if she was bored, she could go and eat something to pass the time. She was craving sweets. Upon skipping into the cafeteria, she hummed a small tune as she poked around in the kitchen for anything that could be sweet. Upon finding her treats, it was a plate of cookies, she took a seat and started to eat.
"ooooh! Hello!" she called out waving friendly to the female came in. "Would you like a cookie?"

After exploring a bit, Nozomi found that she had a stomach that was rumbling with hunger pains. Even fortune tellers needed to get food, or their predictions wouldn't be as accurate. Not to mention, it was hard to think properly and behave properly when she could only think about food. So, the purple-haired girl made her way to the cafeteria, thinking of what she could indulge in. Maybe she could make like a rice omelette, since she at least knew how to cook little things. Omelette with rice and a ketchup heart... The very thought of it was almost maddening.
Nozomi strutted into the cafeteria, trying to keep up her image, and she spotted a girl sitting at a table, eating and offering her some cookies. "Oh, sure... I would most certainly like some..." A little different from her planned meal, but it was rude to turn down someone, and hey, free food. She took a seat at the table with the other girl. "I spent most of the day exploring, and unfortunately, my nightly divinations won't be as strong if I don't eat. Comme çi, Comme ça, you know?"

Kofuku titled her head to the side, she really didn't know what this girl was talking about. But was glad that she had the company. Divinations? The word was familiar, she had seen things like that on tv. It's what fortune tellers did, in fact in some of the casinos she knew that there were a few people who went by things like to try to win in the slots.
"I see," The girl mused, if the girl didn't want a cookie then she could take them for herself. She didn't want to be rude though. "I can see if there's something else here, I just needed some sugar." she gave a small child-like giggle. The pink haired girl was not used to talking to others easily when not in a casino or her father's crew. Maybe if she managed to break the ice, then they could get somewhere.

Nozomi took one cookie, grateful to at least have some food in her stomach. "No, this is fine. I don't want to trouble you by having you get me something," she said coyly as she nibbled at the cookie. "I'm Nozomi Toujou, by the way. I have quite the talent in fortune telling. It's quite a profitable talent, since people like to believe their fate is in the cards, much like my heart is. And it helps that my fortunes are accurate about 98% of the time. C'est magnifique." She pulled her Tarot deck out of her pocket and set it on the table. "Did you know that Tarot cards used to be used as playing cards, and that's why they have numbers on them?"

Now that was something she never knew. She shook her head. "I didn't know that, but I did know that people rely on fortunes and fate to win the slot machines. It doesn't always work out, but sometimes it did and those people were happy." The pink haired girl frowned remembering how she always thought it was silly to rely on skills of others rather than their own wits and skills.
But she did have to admit the cards did call to her, the pictures were very pretty. "Can i get a closer look, I've never seen...what did you call them tarot cards?"

"The Fool and Jester are the the cards that really show their history as playing cards, since their values can be zero or twenty-two, and are most similar in design to the Joker. Some people are born lucky, some are born with skill and talent, others learn to hone it, and some... well, they most certainly don't go to this school, to say the least," Nozomi said with a small laugh. "I personally believe that while that fortune, luck, and skill can be important, a person who puts in a lot of effort for a skill is far better, since they've had to work for it." Nozomi laid her cards out on the table. "I don't normally let people touch the cards, but just this once, I'll let you see the pictures on them. I have a special deck that adds three different cards: Jester, Hunger, and Aeon. May I get your name?" she asked with a smile as she finished her cookie.

Kofuku nodded, she had always heard something about the fortune card. Sometimes in particular a familiar old man would yell that the fortune card held his fate and it had answered with good spirits. She thought it was silly but now that she knew that there was a fortune teller here, there was a chance that speaking bad about such things was not in her interest.
"Thank you, I promise to make sure to be careful." To prove her point, she dusted her dirty hands on her skirt before smiling brighter. "I'm Kofuku, Kofuku Ebisu, nice to meet ya."

"A pleasure," Nozomi returned the smile with a grin of her own. "And thank you. My cards were special made for me." She crossed her legs and looked at her deck spread on the table. "A lot of the cards, you see, are not always what one would expect. For example, the Lovers doesn't always mean something romantic, as it can mean secrets, Death can mean the start of a new beginning, Wheel of Fortune represents any random change, and the Fool and Jester indicate the start of a journey, although with the Jester, it means something more along the lines of putting on a facade and presenting a different face on the journey," she explained.

Kofuku gave a small smirk at the meaning behind the jester card. She often put on facades in order to make people lower their guard around her while going against her in the casinos. It was all very easy, after all being sweet was only part of her. "I've never dealt with fortunes before, I mean i know about them from tv but even I know that's something you can't always figure out."
Her gaze went to the death card, it was almost too creepy. A killing game, the death card was something she couldn't take for granted. "Can i ask, what does it mean when the card is in reverse? I heard that was a thing? Does that mean the meaning changes?"

Nozomi chuckled, her gaze going over her cards. She herself related a lot to the Jester card, since she was rather happy that this situation had gone so she could try and make friends, even if it seemed like something that she shouldn't be proud of. C'est la vie, she assumed. If that was her reason for staying sane in this situation, so be it.
Nozomi held the Death card in her hand. "Well, as I said, Death isn't nearly as ominous as it sounds, at least in the Tarot. It usually refers to the end of something and the start of something else, changes, and transformation. I am quite impressed that you know that each card has a reverse meaning, which many people don't take into consideration. Its reversed meaning is resisting change and being unable to move on. Death is a card of change, and it leads into the cards following it, such as Temperance, which means balance and moderation, the Devil, which is usually a sign of excess and addiction, the Tower, which is more of an omen card since it can mean disaster or sudden change, and then the more positive cards like Star, Moon, and Sun," Nozomi explained.

"Wow, I didn't realize that there was so much to it." She looked at the cards again, it was nothing like poker, it seemed much more complex. "I wish I could understand it, but then again if I did know as much as you, I think my title would be different." she stuck out her tongue playfully before taking another cookie. Her gaze fell on the cards again, the designs were very beautiful and the girl who held them was just the same.
"How did you get into it?"

"Oh, but of course. Tarot deals with more than just fortune, luck, and the like. The cards can reveal problems one is facing and general advice in how to deal with them," Nozomi remarked. "It can be very complex, but if you know someone who can interpret the cards for you, it can be extremely insightful."
Nozomi rested her head on her left hand. "Ah, what a question... I moved around a lot when I was younger, and it gave me quite an observation with the world. I wanted to understand the world, and my parents received some cards from a business partner. From there, I learned how to work with the cards. When I was able to go to a regular school, people always wanted to know their fortunes, and I guess that led to my being here."

"Hmmm, it seems like this school is going to make the cards a bit more interesting huh?" The bear had proven that much with this so called game of killing. It wasn't a game that Kofuku wanted to play though, then again probably most of her classmates hadn't wanted to play either. Did they even have a choice? It didn't make sense, if the whole point was to send them here to be something important then why the killing?
Her purple eyes fell on the cookies once more, before pushing them aside no longer hungry. "Can the cards tell us why the bear wants this to happen?"

"I can try and do a reading to attempt to discern that bear's motives. It would be difficult for a beginner, but with me here, it should be easy to get a guess. Generally, though, the cards are more geared towards the reader, and if they have a guest with them, their guest," Nozomi explained as she gathered her cards up and began to shuffle them carefully so as to not damage them. "It's rather apprehensive, what that bear has planned. But everybody has a few faces, they say, so what may come from this may reveal surprises."
The purple-haired girl then began to arrange the cards in a pattern. "This is called the Celtic Cross. Four cards on the right, five to make the cross with a card overlaying on the cross. It's a general purpose reading, but it can reveal motivations."

Kofuku frowned, she had only thought about the idea of the bear's saying as a bad joke. But every time she thought about it, she dreaded thinking about it. "I thought he would do it just because he was bored. Or that someone here pissed him off, but based on everyone's reactions to the bear, no one knew him." She watched the cross with interest. It was a wonder to watch someone do their talent.
It was one thing to watch them on television but to see them do it face to face was something amazing. "Motivations? I thought that fortunes were used to tell someone's future." There was so much to learn.
