It wasn't often that Ange got nostalgia from missing her family, but it really seemed to strike home now that she was in a situation where death was on the table. Which was fairly ironic, because her last incident with those girls from her old school had her wanting to die, and she had just been saved from trying to jump off a building before coming here. However, she was more interested now in putting the thoughts of her own death on the back burner, as she could investigate the tragedy that had killed all her family members here, and to at least finish the story of her cousin's beloved toy's adventures before she made any further decisions about dying.
So, here she sat alone in a classroom, away from a lot of people to try and imagine what adventures Sakutaro and the Seven Sisters of Purgatory would have next. It was going fairly well, since she could act out each character well, and the ideas were flowing onto the paper like water displaced from a boulder thrown into a small pond. However, the second she heard the door to the classroom open, the illusions she conjured up in her mind vanished with the drop of her cousin's diary. "Ah... you can use the classroom, if you like... I just needed some time on my own, to write...." Ange... no, Yukari, tried to explain to the man who had come in. She really had trouble keeping the lines between her alias and her real self from blurring.

"Ah, are you sure?" The boy asked, he looked around the classroom, even if she was the only one in there it was still a bit unnerving. He was letting everything go to his head nowadays. "I really don't mind finding another place to write...I would hate to get in the way of your writing."
In truth, Kazuya had planned to do some writing of his own. Ever since his talk with the bookworm in the library, he was inspired to write a new story, but the question was what about? That was why he had come into the classroom. To think about a new story, the Golden fairy was only meant to be a one off story. Now was the time to think of a new character and setting.

Ange dusted off the diary that had fallen to the floor and held it to her chest. "No, it's fine. I was going to do some writing later, anyway. It's better to do whimsical stories like mine in random intervals." Much like that mystery novelist she met once, although that woman was rather unpleasant, in Ange's opinion. "Feel free to use the classroom, although I guess I could provide some sort of company if you wish." She fixed up her hair baubles. "Oh, I'm Ang-- Yukari Kotobuki, by the way. Since more people know me by my pen name than by my real name."

"Thank you," Kazuya gave a small bow. If only to show his respect to her. It was something that he was used to doing, that and his mom had encouraged him to give everyone, especially girls with respect, like a gentleman. "Kazuya, Kazuya Kujo." He would offer his hand to shake but something told him that she would rather be writing than making friends.
The name sounded familiar. Kotobuki. He had to think about it. It was familiar but he couldn't place it. The girl looked like there was something on her mind but not one to pry into personal problems, he took a seat and opened up his small notebook.

Kazuya Kujo... That sounded familiar to the red-haired woman. Well, he was a writer like herself, clearly. That much was obvious. "Kujo-san..." She repeated, trying to place the name. Well, knowing her luck, she'd remember if she left. She proceeded to remain standing, since it would make too much noise, and most writers-herself included-enjoyed quiet. "Kujo-san, do you mind if I ask what kind of books you write?" She asked, the curiosity burning her up. Granted, it was probably rude when she had kind of promised him the room for quiet, but hey, Ange had to admit, she was selfish.

Kazuya glanced upwards and looked at the girl. "Oh, well I write mystery novels." he said rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "The one most know me for is the Library of the Golden Fairy. But there were a few others I have written too, however right now I am a bit of block of what to write about next." He couldn't help but wonder why she was curious about his writing? Was it important? Maybe she just needed to know there was someone else to talk to about story ideas?
That or there was something else entirely.

"... Ah, so that's how I recognize your name... A mystery novelist..." Ange didn't have a very good experience with the one mystery novelist she met, although in addition to that woman's personality, her mysteries were essentially fan fiction about her family's deaths, so it wasn't exactly the most ideal circumstances for that meeting. And the only other mystery novelist who had featured prominently in her life was some person claiming to be the one who killed her family. A look at her cousin's diary only reconfirmed what Anfe wanted to ask the mystery novelist, since he more than likely, being of the mystery genre, understood, perhaps, the motives as to why someone killed her family. "Do you think you'd be able to offer up an answer as to why my, I mean... A certain mysterious tragedy may have occurred twelve years ago, Kujo-san? Many mystery novels have been published about the massacre of eighteen people on the small island of Rokkenjima, but as a mystery novelist, what would your opinion be on why someone killed those people?" She asked, her gaze unwavering.

Kazuya's eyes widened in surprise. He had heard of the books that she was talking about. He had never thought to look into the incident itself, but from what he read, that the people who wrote them, obviously didn't get the full story. If the girl was curious about it then maybe there was a reason for it. He twirled his pen around in his hand as he thought about the answer he was going to give. Why would someone kill that family?
"I have to say, that's kind of a difficult question," he confessed. "I don't know much about the massacre, but the way i see it is that people kill people for reasons. Either because they want to, or because of something involving a treasure or a dark secret." He wasn't sure if this family had either but it didn't hurt to ask.
"Did this family have a dark secret of sorts?"

That last question almost made Ange smile. The dark secrets of her family had been aired for a bit, so she knew about most of her family's worst side. One of her aunts was too high-strung and attempted to kill a baby and succeeded in killing a maid, her uncle had abused his younger siblings growing up, another aunt had abused and neglected her young daughter, her father had cheated on his wife with Ange's mother long before she and her brother were born, the aunt who had raised her had been driven mad by the gossip that she beat Ange and remained bitter until her death, and all of her relatives except for the children had money problems and desired the gold that Ange's grandfather had received long ago. And that wasn't even getting into the crimes her grandfather had committed, like killing a bunch of people, abusing his children and wife, and forcing himself onto his illegitimate child and fathering a child with her. "... You could say that, at the very least.... The Ushiromiya family had a lot of dark secrets..." she admitted.
She turned to a page in her cousin's diary, grimacing at the signature present on the page. "There was a rumor of twenty tons of gold hidden somewhere on Rokkenjima." If the aunt who raised her was the killer, as Ange wanted to believe, then the gold certainly was the motive, although it was strange she hadn't brought it back if that was the case. "And as desperate for money as most of the adults were... I do think that something about their dark secrets may be a key..."

Kazuya nodded and thought again about what she had said. Gold. That was something that he hadn't expected from an massacre from an island. Many killings were something about inheritance. "Can i ask if this gold, if it really was on the island, was it meant to be some sort of an inheritance?" he asked. "I mean that's the only reason I can think of killing, someone got jealous about inheritance." But that idea was becoming more and more ridiculous.
This kind of massacre seemed to have a darker secret behind it.

"Someone was supposedly the heir to Kinzo Ushiromiya, the patriarch of the family, but he didn't think his son was qualified, so they believe an epitaph was erected, and whoever solved the epitaph would inherit the position of leader of the Ushiromiya family as well as the twenty tons of gold." A chill ran down her spine, as it did make sense, her theory. Her aunt Eva had killed their grandfather and the rest of the family, all to have the inheritance and leadership position to Ushiromiya. "That does seem to make since, since Eva Ushiromiya was the only one who survived, and was left as the heir... though even though I personally dislike her and favor her as the culprit, it doesn't make sense for her to kill her husband and son as well, since she spent her remaining years mourning them and cursing her niece for failing to be a replacement for them," she said in a bitter tone. A quick glance enabled Ange to add, "But you know how in the bottles that washed up, how they were signed by someone claiming to be the Golden Witch Beatrice and how they claimed to be the one who killed everyone? I can't help but wonder... what would anybody have to gain from claiming to be the murderer as well as something illogical?"

Kazuya listened to the girl's words with full attention. He made notes of everything she said in his head. Hoping that at some point that they would come in handy. The story almost sounded like something he would have written in a book. An epitaph that would lead to fortune that could only lead in blood shed. When she got the point of the Golden Witch, that caused him to close his eyes and think for a moment.
"Hmmm..." he mused outloud. "The idea of someone pretending to be this Golden Witch could only lead to one thing, the idea of getting a reputation as a mystical being could make them bigger than anything. Including the massacre, that could lead to fame and fortune. That's just one theory though..."

"... Right..." Ange thought of how she had received money from someone claiming to be the Golden Witch shortly after her family had been killed, and the idea that someone did that solely to benefit from money and power and spread the lore about a witch made her sick with anger. As did that meeting with Tohya Hachijo, who profited off writing stories about her family's murders. Some writers seriously didn't have souls anymore, it seemed. She opened a page of Maria's diary, and elected to reveal it to Kazuya. "And though the person claiming to be the witch portrayed herself asa merciless person, claiming all in her killings.... for some reason, as detailed in Maria Ushiromiya's diary from before the tragedy... Maria and this Beatrice were close," she remarked.

Kazuya looked down at the desk again, this girl knew too much about the tragedy, he was sure it was a concidence, however there was something different about it. "What do you think?" he asked, curiously. "Do you think that someone would have anything to gain by pretending to be this golden witch, I must admit, i have only heard bits and pieces of what happened." That wasn't something that he probably should have admitted but in the end what else could he do?
"Is that why you are here? At the school I mean, is it to help you figure out more of the mystery?"

Ange honestly wished she could remain detached from the tragedy and try to view it objectively. But here she was twelve years later, and it still haunted her. "... To be honest, for a while, I thought that the person claiming to be the witch was an elaborate cover for Eva Ushiromiya to get away with killing everyone. It was said that on her deathbed, Eva claimed to have passed the rite of being a witch to her niece as a curse, but she was extremely delusional with thoughts of people trying to kill her." It was rather tragic, knowing that her aunt had died full of paranoia and delusions, but Ange honestly wished it had been her who killed Aunt Eva rather than old age for all the torment her aunt put her through.
Kazuya's question threw her off, as it was exactly why she was at Hope's Peak. "... I guess it was easy to tell... The mystery of that tragedy, all the clues not adding up... It's haunted me for so long..." She admitted. "I hoped that this place would have some answers."
