Taking care of plants always made the young gardener feel better. Using a cup her found in the kitchen, he used it to give water to the potted plant in the corner of the cafeteria. Sitting next to the plant, he sighed. He had hoped there would be a garden for him to really care for, but for now, meager potted plants would have to satisfy him "You're just as trapped as I am." He muttered to the plant, actually talking to it "Well, we'll just have to care for each other, huh?" He put the, now empty, cup down. He stood up and clenched his fists and smiled "I'll just do this, what I do best. Forget that bear!" After saying that, he looked around quickly, silently praying that Monokuma hadn't actually heard him.

Erika headed towards the cafeteria, trying to keep her stomach from rumbling in an un-ladylike manner in an attempt to find some food that could sate her appetite. She would definitely prefer food she could each with chopsticks, but given how far below her standards most of the school was, she didn't expect much. She pushed open the door to the cafeteria, and found someone in there... watering a plant, and apparently, talking to it. Now, this was a mystery she needed to watch. She went and grabbed a quick snack and started to observe this guy talking to a plant. Well, she did hear that plants survived off oxygen.
She took a bite of the candy bar she had chosen, and quickly decided it'd be far more fun to try to pretend to be nice to this guy and be horrified at how abhorrent she really was. She walked towards the boy, and called out, "How do you do? Do you normally talk to plants?"

Finny jumped when he heard her "Gyah!" He looked and sighed when he realized it was just another student "Oh...um, I'm good. And it's been stated that plants can hear us and grow faster with interaction, so I'm used to talking to them." Being a gardener who spent hours in his work alone, talking to the plants made him happy. It helped the plants grow too, so it was a good deal for him.

Naturally, Erika knew that about plants-it was a fact she learned by hanging around a crime scene and overstaying any welcome she would have had-but now wasn't the time to show off her intellect. That time would come, she promised herself. "I see... Well, it's probably lucky for you that I was the only one who heard you. Who knows what that bear might have done?" she said with a smile that was fake for her, but since she practiced being polite so often, only the most trained people could really tell if it was fake.
"I generally just eat and look at plants, but that's just me," Erika added. "I generally don't come across crime scenes involving plants."

"He seems the type who would probably act depressed that someone said 'forget him.'" Finny placed the empty cup on the table and sat down "Crime scenes, huh? I guess you must be a detective or something, right?" He gave her a genuine smile "I don't think we've been introduced, I'm Finnian, but everyone calls me 'Finny'. Nice to meet you."

Erika curtsied before taking a seat. "I consider myself a private detective, with a talent so specialized that I am called in only on the most special cases." Those cases being only ones where a detective wasn't able to make it to the crime scene for at least a day. I am Erika Furudo, a pleasure to meet you."
She looked around briefly, before saying, "I wonder if this bear bothered to provide us with tea."

"If that bear really wants us to live here forever, I hope he'd provide tea." Monokuma appeared to have provided a variety of foods and drinks for them, so tea had to be somewhere in that massive kitchen. Now that he thought about it, Finny wouldn't mind some tea himself "Want me to look?"

Erika faked yet another sweet smile, and added a curtsy while still seated. "I would appreciate it, Finny-san. Investigating this school did make me thirsty, after all." She crossed her legs and rested her head on her hand. Now that she thought about it, she was rather famished. Maybe she could coax this kid into making food for her? After all, she deserved it. She was the Great Detective who knew how to handle this odd situation. "This whole situation seems so much like a murder mystery to me. One person traps a bunch of people in a place, and death is on the table..."

Finny found the tea and smiled. Something was off about Erika to him, but who wasn't acting off due to the circumstances? He made the tea and put them into two teacups. He set them down on the table and sat across from her "Do you mind if I ask about some interesting cases you've worked on?"

Erika grabbed a teacup and began to sip from it. "Hm... I'm not quite a Hercule Poirot yet, but I guess I could tell you about a case I happened to solve once." She crossed her legs and placed her hands on her lap before she began narrating. "I was on a cruise because... That's another story for a different time, but The case I had been on was stressful enough that I needed to go on a cruise. The ship hit stormy weather, and I fell off, but washed up on a private island. I was close in age to the children on there, but I formed a bond with the second oldest boy, who also liked mysteries." She flashed another smile at him to try and see if he was still interested in this case. "Much of this is fairly important, but I'll get to the case itself soon."

"I'm glad you weren't badly hurt, and you must be very lucky to have been washed up on an island with people." Finny drank his own tea, eager for the story to continue. He never watched many murder mysteries, or anything like that, as he spent most of his time in his garden, or working on someone else's. He put his teacup on the table and smiled "Please continue."
